OREAS 23a has been prepared from barren I-type hornblende-bearing granodiorite sourced from the Late Devonian Lysterfield granodiorite complex located in the Melbourne Province of Australia. It is characterised by very low background gold of less than 4 parts per billion. It has been certified for Au, Ag, As, Ba, Bi, Cd, Co, Cu, Mo, Ni, Pb, Sb, Sn, Th, U, W and Zn.
